Project Overview

The threat of bioterrorism looms larger every day after the attacks on September 11. In a small way, we hope that our project, a system that quickly detects bioagents and gets people out of harm's way, will help in the mounting battle against bioterror. Because it is meant to protect the people, the same way the Greek goddess Athena was the protectress of the city and agriculture, we have given the name "The Athena Project" to our research.

ISTF Project #01-0212 was developed in response to the 2001-2002 Internet Science and Technology Fair, by Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. The National Critical Technology category that has been selected is Environmental Monitoring.
